How much do you know about the reflective strips of reflective vests?

In many industries, we need to wear reflective clothing to ensure personal safety. So, what material is the reflective strip made of?

The reflective material of the reflective vest is composed of a reflective lattice or high brightness reflective cloth, which utilizes the micro diamond shape of the lattice to generate refraction and the principle of high refractive index glass microbeads returning to reflection.

Whether during the day or night, reflective strips can reflect direct light from afar back to the illuminated area. Even at a long distance or in the presence of light or scattered interference, it can be easily detected by night drivers.

There are many types of reflective strips, among which reflective ribbons, reflective lattice strips, reflective fabrics, reflective strips, etc. are widely used in reflective vests, reflective work clothes, and reflective raincoats.

Reflective Crystal

High brightness reflective lattice products are composed of high reflective micro prisms bonded to a flexible, glossy, and UV resistant polymer film. Its plastic base is very sturdy and not easy to fall off, making it easy for wearers to be detected, greatly reducing the risk.

High brightness lattice reflective products can be used regardless of whether they are sealed or not. Reflective lattice products have a wide range of colors, high reflective intensity, easy coloring, and good rain resistance.

Reflective fabric

The composition of reflective fabric consists of three parts: substrate, glass microbeads, and adhesive, which are then processed and cut into different strip structures. The substrate here can generally be chemical fiber substrate or plastic film, and the substrate of the film is generally processed into reflective stickers.

Glass microspheres are generally mainly composed of silica, accounting for about 67% of the total chemical composition, as well as other substances such as calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, sodium oxide, etc. The particle size of glass microbeads varies, ranging from 50 to 450 mesh. Depending on the product's requirements, one mesh size of microbeads can be selected, or two types of microbeads can be mixed.

The choice of adhesive can be water-based acrylate lotion, oil-based adhesive or polyurethane adhesive. The main function of glue is to fix the glass beads without leaving the reflective substrate. In order to achieve long-term stability, the quality requirements of glue are very strict.
